Day 1 – LA PAZ - DEATH ROAD - CHULUMANI (8 Hrs) (240 Km)
20% paved road and 80% dirt road partly on the famous DEATH ROAD. Departure is from the city of La Paz 3,600mts. On this day we go to the village of Coroico 1,750mts. We'll ride over the mountain pass La Cumbre 4,680mts and then take the old dirt road down. Along impressing Andean mountain landscapes the road zigzags between high mountain walls and deep abysm. Several crosses mark places of accidents, which used to be very tragic and frequent so this route is also known as "the Death Road". Nowadays, it is a favorite biking route. We'll stay at hotel Panorama.
Day 2 – CHULUMANI - QUIME (7 Hrs) (200 Km)
100% dirt road. On this day, we'll be driving through a very warm valley over a dirt road with many slopes and curves. We'll arrive at the village of Chulumani 1,620mts, where we'll stay at a Basic Hostal.
Day 3 – QUIME - ORURO (5 Hrs) (230 Km)
50% dirt Road and 50% asphalt. From Quime we'll going up to the highlands. This day we'll have spectacular mountains and rivers, also dusty roads. Later, a main asphalt road will take us to the city of Oruro 3,700mts. There we'll stay at a fine city hotel. http://floresplazahotel.com.
Day 4 – ORURO - TAHUA - JIRIRA (7 Hrs) (310 Km)
From the city of Oruro, we will have a day of driving on asphalt road, passing through the town of ORINOCA, which is the village where the actual indigenous President of Bolivia, Evo Morales Ayma, was born and we shall have a look to the modern Museum of just his history. This day we'll arrive to a very picturesque village at the shores of the Salar, where we'll stay at a basic hostal.
Day 5 – JIRIRA - SAN JUAN (6 Hrs) (270 Km)
Definitely, this day is the most beautiful moment because we will be driving over the Great Salar of Uyuni, where we will have some spectacular and beautiful places to take unique photos of this trip. This day we'll cross the Salt Flat from one end to the other, arriving at a town called San Juan at 3,800mts, where we'll stay at a basic hostal.
Day 6 – SAN JUAN - LAGUNA COLORADA (8 Hrs) (220 Km) – HARD WAY OFF ROAD
Starting from the town of San Juan we have a very hard road full of deep sand and dry dirt roads. Without doubt this day is the hardest of the route, passing through the desert of Siloli, along Stone Tree and reaching the famous Laguna Colorada where there is a very basic hostal only.
Day 7 – LAGUNA COLORADA - MALLKU (8 Hrs) (250 Km) – HARD WAY OFF ROAD
The eighth day is also off road, but not as hard as the previous day. On this day we will visit the Geysers at a height of 4,500 meters. Arriving to the hot springs, you can have a bath in a hot pool if you like. Afterwards we leave in direction to the locality of Mallku Villa Mar to spend the night again at a basic hostal.
Day 8 – MALLKU - UYUNI (5 Hrs) (190 Km) – DIRT ROAD
This day is a more easy one as we shall drive about 4 hours and be visiting the City of Rocks and the Cemetery of Trains, arriving at the town of Uyuni about 1:00 p. m. There you have a free afternoon. Hotel: http://hostalmagiauyuni.com
Day 9 – UYUNI - ORURO (5 Hrs) (320 Km) – 100% ASPHALT
On this penultimate day we will drive on an asphalt road, enjoying a biutiful mountain scenery of the Altiplano until arriving to Oruro City. Hotel Plaza Flores.
Day 10 – ORURO – LA PAZ (5 Hrs) (260 Km) – 100% ASPHALT
On this last part of the journey we shall ride on a paved highway crossing the immense high plateau of the Altiplano until arriving to La Paz city. (hotel no INCLUDED).
